The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has given central contracts to 18 national cricketers for the season 21-2020, while the emerging players category has been re-introduced, with Hassan Ali, Mohammad Amir and Wahab Riaz seeking central contracts. I could not succeed.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the names of the players who will get central contracts after the approval of Chairman Ehsan Mani. Fast bowlers Naseem Shah and Iftikhar Ahmed have secured central contracts for the first time and have been included in the C category of central contracts.
This time too the players have been divided into 3 categories namely ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’. Former A-list captain Sarfraz Ahmed and league spinner Yasir Shah have been demoted and both cricketers will now be included in B-category.
Test captain Azhar Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi, who represented Pakistan in all three formats, also got A category. The third player in this category is ODI and T20 captain Babra Azam. Babar Azam has now been given the ODI leadership along with T20 while he will be the vice-captain along with Azhar Ali in the Tests.
Sarfraz’s demotion in B category
The Central Contract B category includes a total of nine players, including former captains Sarfraz Ahmed and Yasir Shah, as well as Abid Ali, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan and Shaun Masood.Test cricketers Abid Ali, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaun Masood, who scored centuries on their debut, have advanced to the B category.
Decline in Imam-ul-Haq’s C category
Left-handed opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq has been relegated to the C category. A total of 6 cricketers are included in this category.

The PCB has once again introduced the Emerging Players category, which includes three cricketers. Haris Rauf, who made a name for himself in the national team after making a name for himself in the Lahore Qalandars Players Development Program and then in the Big Bash League, has been included in the emerging category along with Haider Ali and Mohammad Hasnain.
Last year’s central contract included 19 players and this time the number has been increased to 18 in three categories, but with the introduction of the emerging category.
Fast bowlers Mohammad Amir, Wahab Riaz and Hassan Ali failed to get contracts. Mohammad Aamir has retired from red ball cricket while Wahab Riaz has distanced himself from red ball cricket and Hassan Ali is suffering from fitness problems.
