Leading web streaming website HBO Max has removed the City of Horizons and the multi-Oscar-winning film Gone with the Wind after protests against racism around the world, especially in the United States.
Gone with the Wind was released in 1939 and won eight Oscars, the most prestigious award in the film world.
The film has been hailed as one of the highest grossing films of all time and one of the best and most critically acclaimed Hollywood films.
The film depicts the civil war in the United States, as well as enslaving black Americans of African descent.
The main story of the film revolves around the love of a farmer’s cunning daughter and an obscene young man, but the film depicts black Americans as slaves.
However, the film was removed from the website at a time when there are widespread protests around the world, including in the United States, against racism and injustice against black people.
A spokesman for HBO Max confirmed the removal of the 1939 Shehra Afaq film from the website, saying it portrayed black people in an unrealistic way, according to AFP.
According to the web streaming website management, the film has been shown to be the most controversial issue in the United States to date, which has led to criticism, but in recent days it has not been appropriate to put the film on any other website. So it was removed.
It should also be noted that the film was removed from the web streaming website after John Ridley, the author of the successful film 12 Years of Sleeve, recently criticized the film, saying that the film was a tribute to the flaws of American society. There is a difference between black and white people in American society even today.
On the other hand, many people expressed happiness over the decision to remove the film from the website and at the same time demanded that such films be avoided in the future.
Protests against racism around the world, including in the United States, began on May 25, when black George Floyd was killed by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Jarch Floyd was killed during a police arrest when a black police officer held his throat under his knee for nine minutes.
Following the death of George Floyd, four policemen, including the said police officer, were suspended and charged with murder. Protests erupted around the world, including in the United States, after the death of a black man.
