Pakistani cricket captain and young batsman Babar Azam has become the number one batsman in ODI cricket.
In the latest ODI International rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday, Pakistan’s batsman Babar Azam has overtaken India’s Virat Kohli to take the number one position in one-day international cricket.
According to the rankings released by the ICC, Babar Azam tops the list with 865 points, while Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, who has been number one for five years, is at the second position with 857 points.
Babar Azam, who scored 228 runs in three ODIs against South Africa, scored a total of 28 rating points during the series. Before the start of the series, there was a gap of 20 points between him and Virat Kohli.
Babar Azam is ranked third in the world T20 rankings and sixth in Test cricket.
Babar Azam is the fourth Pakistani batsman to receive the award. Earlier, Zaheer Abbas, Javed Miandad and Mohammad Yousuf have been the number one batsmen in the ICC ODI rankings.
Mohammad Yousuf topped the ICC ODI rankings in 2003.
