Shireen Mazari

India’s uncontested election to the Security Council is a question mark for us

Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari has said that in the current situation, allowing India to be elected a non-permanent member of the Security Council is to legitimize its actions.

In her statement on social media, Shireen Mazari said that India has finally been elected as a non-permanent member of the Security Council for 2 years with 184 votes.

Shireen Mazari said 184 of the 193 members of the UN General Assembly voted for India, while Ireland, Mexico, and Norway also won their regional seats.

The Federal Minister said that it is a question for Pakistan that we let it happen that there was no one from the region other than India? There was also competition for Africa.

He questioned why Pakistan had agreed to India’s nomination so long ago. And the most troubling thing is that India got so many votes.

Shireen Mazari said that it was not just a matter of ‘the sky will not fall’ but at a time when India on the one hand is occupying occupied Kashmir and is attacking Pakistan day by day, on the other hand, India has invaded China and Nepal. At the same time, in the face of controversy, to allow India to win unopposed is to legitimize its actions.

He said that the steps taken by India in occupied Kashmir were against international law and the resolutions of the Security Council itself.

“Those who think that India is a member of the Security Council in the PTI government are aware that the nomination was made in 2013 and I am responding to Pakistan’s response at the time. There was also criticism.
