LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has the support of Prime Minister and Chief Patron Imran Khan for legislation against fixing.
Talking to Indian News Agency, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani said that the Prime Minister has assured support for the legislation.
It may be recalled that cricketers found involved in fixing have so far been banned or fined by the ICC or the PCB. No such action could be taken against any cricketer in Pakistan due to a lack of legislation.
Once the Criminal Act is passed, fixers will be sent to jail, and access to bank accounts will be possible during the investigation.
Meanwhile, rumors have been circulating for the past several weeks that Ehsan Mani will contest the ICC chairman election against Indian board president Saro Ganguly. In this regard, he once again clarified the situation and said that Not included, I only want to serve Pakistan cricket.
It is to be noted that elections are expected in July. Incumbent Chairman Shashank Manohar has already made it clear that he is no longer interested in holding the post.
