KARACHI: The Sindh government has proposed a 15-day curfew-like lockdown to stop the spread of coronavirus across the country.
Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani while talking in the Geo News program ‘New Pakistan’ said that if patients are coming from all over the country, then smart lockdown is not understood.
He said that the Sindh government is looking into this matter very closely and there will come a time when the health system will sit down because it is very difficult for us if the countries which did not have the resources could not meet the needs of the people.
Saeed Ghani said that this is the reason why they were saying from the beginning that steps should be taken to stop the virus but the views of the federation and the prime minister were different.
“One million is a long way off. If it reaches two and a half million cases, our hospitals and doctors will not have the capacity to handle it,” he added.
The Education Minister said that we are trying our best to increase our capacity but as the numbers are increasing rapidly, there is no question that we can handle this situation.
It is to be noted that the total number of deaths due to coronavirus has crossed 2700 across the country while the total number of patients is more than 114,000 after the emergence of new cases.
More than 53,000 cases have been reported in Sindh province, while the total number of corona patients in Punjab is more than 52,000.
