Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former Federal Minister Khurram Dastagir called on Wajid Zia, head of the Sugar Inquiry Commission, at the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) headquarters.

It may be recalled that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had recently written a letter to the head of the Sugar Inquiry Commission, Wajid Zia, offering to provide details in the inquiry into the Chinese crisis, to which he was summoned today.

He said that the government was responsible for the rise in sugar prices due to the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) and the cabinet and it proved that the Prime Minister was incompetent and corrupt.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the price of sugar went up due to the decisions of ECC and Cabinet. The export of sugar continued for 16 months but the government did not take notice of the increase in price. ECC and Cabinet members should be called and asked why export. Not stopped? The ECC and the cabinet will have to respond to the sugar issue.

He further said that the chairman of ECC is corrupt and incompetent, all the facts have been put before the commission, export was allowed even though there was no surplus of sugar and such tax was imposed on imports that import of sugar was not possible.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that when the Prime Minister is not called then the reason for the increase in the price of sugar will not come to light, the import of sugar was also stopped, conflict of interest also came to the fore, the people have been robbed so the Prime Minister and Chairman The ECC should be called to the Commission of Inquiry.

The former prime minister said that the record of corruption is the decisions of the cabinet and the minutes of the meeting of the ECC. He told the commission of inquiry that they will come when called. We gave a subsidy of more than Rs 20 billion but when we gave the subsidy, the Chinese The price of a penny did not increase.

He further said that the rise in the price of sugar shows that sugar was not present in the country, why was the export of sugar allowed? The spirit of PTI has been involved in ongoing corruption and the report of the commission is not satisfactory till the commission summons the Prime Minister.
