The federal government has decided to withdraw the notification of suspension of the mayor of Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to withdraw the suspension notification of Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Ansar belonging to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

On May 17, the mayor of Islamabad was suspended for 90 days under the Capital Territory Local Government Act with the approval of the federal cabinet, which was challenged by Sheikh Ansar in court and the court suspended the federal government’s order.

In this regard, Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani of the Islamabad High Court heard the petition against the suspension of the mayor of Islamabad in which Additional Attorney General Tariq Khokhar said that the federal government has decided to withdraw the notification of suspension of the mayor of Islamabad. ۔

Sheikh Ansar’s lawyer said that the court suspended the notification of suspension of the mayor, again the matter was put on the agenda of the meeting.

The Additional Attorney General said that if the court allows, the mayor is also withdrawing the notification of suspension of Islamabad after which action will be taken as per law.

The Additional Attorney General further said that earlier the notification of suspension of the chairman of Karachi Port Trust had also been withdrawn.

Later, the Islamabad High Court disposed of the petition against the suspension on the statement of Additional Attorney General Tariq Khokhar.
